Gaioz Darsadze re-elected in Georgia
4 October 2010 – As a result of the elections held at the recent General Assembly of the Georgian Football Coaches Association (GFCA) – an AEFCA member since 1 January 2007 -, the incumbent President, Gaioz Darsadze (46) was re-elected.
The delegates also elected his son Varlam (“Vako”) Darsadze the new General Secretary, while the position of Vice-President went to Temur Makharadze. In addition to G. Darsadze (Photo: GFCA) and T. Makharadze, another seven members will constitute the newly-elected Executive Committee.
Strengthening the ties to the national association GFF, as well as improving the partnership with the Georgian clubs community are central items on the GFCA’s agenda for the immediate future.
85 association members, all of whom are holders of the UEFA “A” licence, also agreed on drafting a new standard employment contract to be used at the professional level, i.e. by and for coaches working in the two highest divisions and the national teams’ sector.
For the first time, the document features the terms and conditions to be honoured by both the employers’ (club or national association) and the employees’ (coaches) side.
The key issue, from the coaches’ point of view, is protection against and compensation for unfair dismissal. The life of an employment contract shall be between a minimum of one and a maximum of five years. Coaches shall be obliged to submit a signed copy to the GFCA and face exclusion from the association in the event they are found guilty of any serious contract violation.
