In association with the publishing house Bloomsbury and the support of Barcleys and Deloitte, the League Managers Association (LMA) announced its first official book being launched mid September. Its title: “The Manager: Inside the Minds of Football’s Leaders”. The book is an in-depth exploration of the most significant challenge of managing and leading a football team in the modern game.
Some 30 (LMA members) of the biggest name in English football management reveal just what it takes. With their every decision, remark, skill, and success or failure under constant scrutiny from the media and the fans, these managers need to be the most adroit of leaders. In The Manager they explain their methods, give examples of lessons they’ve learned along the way, and describe the decisions they make and the leadership they provide.
To name a few only: England Manager Roy Hodgson, Carlo Ancelotti, Arsène Wenger, Roberto Mancini, José Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson, and Gérard Houllier.

The former president of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS), Vlatko Marković, has passed away at the age of 76 in Zagreb on 23 September. The AEFCA joins the HNS in mourning an admirable person and a good friend of our alliance for many years.
In 2006 he invited us to hold our annual Executive Meeting in Croatia’s capital. At that time already he showed high interest in hosting an AEFCA Symposium in his native country which finally resulted in last year’s 33rd symposium being held in Split.
In a letter of condolence to his successor and present HNS-President, Davor Šuker, we expressed our deepest sympathy to Yugoslavia’s former national player and most successful head coach in various top clubs in Belgium, France, Austria and last but not least Croatia.
