12 June 2012  –  The last few months have brought about a number of changes at various AEFCA member associations. Read on to learn the latest news about new people and new developments.

In Denmark on 4 March 2012, the Dansk Træner Union (DTU) held its General Assembly and elected Joergen Peder Hansen new President. Hansen succeeds Richardt Soelvertorp who had been at the DTU’s helm for 20 successful years and also served, from 2001 to 2004, as a co-opted member of the AEFCA Executive Committee.

Stina Jensen is the first female member of the DTU executive board; she was elected Treasurer and will also be the DTU members’ contact person.

In addition, publication of the DTU’s “Træning” magazine in its printed format is going to be discontinued and replaced with a regularly produced online magazine that other AEFCA member associations are invited to subscribe to, by following these simple steps:

– Go on the DTU website www.dtunet.dk
– Click on “Opret ny bruger”
– Brugernavn: type in the number “1750”
– First Name
– Family Name
– Address
– City
– Adgangskode: type in “Aefca2012” twice.

On the following day, the DTU Webmaster will carry out (and officially confirm in writing) your registration.

Changes in Cyprus, too – finding it increasingly difficult to reconcile his many obligations and responsibilities (he is a successful entrepreneur and Member of Parliament), Andreas T. Michaelides has decided, after serving many years as President of the Cyprus Football Coaches Association (CFCA), to step down and entrust former Treasurer Christoforou Christakis with leading the organization.

In Ireland, Greig Paterson, National Co-ordinator of Coach Education at the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has taken over from Paul Hamill as point of contact vis-à-vis the AEFCA and its member associations. For his part, Dutch-born Wim Koevermans chairs the FAI Coaches Association in Dublin, in his capacity of FAI High Performance Director.

Congratulations! Long-time AEFCA secretary Uschi Meurer was 75 on 13 April, while TÜFAD President and co-opted ExCo member Ismail Dilber was 65 on 10 May. In Brussels in April, Gérard Houllier (photo: avfc), 2001 UEFA-Cup winner with Liverpool FC and a frequent speaker and much-welcomed guest at AEFCA Symposia past and present, received a special award from UEFA for his outstanding contribution to coaching in Europe.
